Nice video. Seems strange to me that the boxer keeps circling to the left. He must have realised that it is smarter to cirle to the right, away from the right round kick ?

then the thai boxer would kick to the other side, circling against kicking is a bad idea end of.

the best response is to quickly counter punch and move in. in this case the size difference between fighters is really big and of course larger taller fighters have a big advantage over smaller ones standing up.

He probably didn't. You see that often with 'fighters' from other sports who, for whatever reason, get a spot on K-1. Bob Sapp and Randy Kim for example. Whom's 'styles' are NFL and shot-put for gods sake.

That's so "last week". This week I'm I cross training in curling. Now I've got bigger stones to fight with then anyone else.

He probably fights the same way every time. It is likely the kickboxer came prepared for the fight, which means he watched the boxer several times before the fight to see what his moves are. The boxer didn't do that or he'd have developed a defense against the kick.

I agree with Ghost. If the boxer had been prepared he could have seized the advantage by moving in close with punches to the head and the torso. He was too busy trying to dodge kicks and stay out of range of the KBs legs. You can't win a fight like that.

Move in close get kneed and or elbowed, move out far and get kicked, thats the reason why the majority of the time the Muay Thai fighter has the advantage, however there are ways a PUNCHER not a boxer can win the fight.

A lot of people think Nak Muay in Thailand cant punch, that is a very incorrect observation, there are plenty of good punchers in Muay Thai, but it is hard to BOX in a Muay Thai bout, developing the full range of weapons and then specialising in eg punching is a good way to go.

yeah thats true but in thailand they dont really get their punching going till they hit the big stadiums, personally i think its a big mistake on their part. its gradually changing but you know how it is. the first 40-60 fights in their career is just clinch knee and a few round kicks, then they start picking their game up

                          Yeah Ghost,

The knee and kick keep the game going and get the gamblers odds moving, thats for a different thread though eh.

Circling is great against kicking, I use it myself. You not supposed to circle all the time, just when the kick is being prepared. Cicle away from the kick, and you can avoid it all together, while counter punching or what ever.

yeah thats different though mate, you are talking about using it in a direct defense to kicking, im talking about kicking someone that is moving in a circle because they happent to be moving that way.

so its you responding to their circular motion, not their circular motion in response to your kick. i know what you mean and agree with what you have said. that is the correct time to use it.
