  • is there another way i can learn muay thai?

hello, i was reading the threads in this forum and i really like muay thai, but in the place i live in no one teaches it.i want to learn a martial art that is for self defense and useful the only martial arts class that i can find is karate tkd and hapkido but i dont like them very much no offense to anyone. Is there a way i can sort of learn a bit of muay thai? i dont want to be an expert i just want to know the basics, could anyone give me some advice please. i know a bit of wing chun but i dont think its very useful =/.So may someone help me out, thanks

if you got a partner and some gear, you could do all the drills, strategies, and techniques shown in this video and use them when sparring as well. a punching bag would be good too.

you could maybe order one online. and if your ceiling is weak, then yeah it may fall off. i had my punching bag at home on a wooden beam and it collapsed from me hitting it so hard.

if nothing else you may have to get a standup punching bag, the ones that you fill with water. i don't really like those myself, but its better than nothing.

Buy a book on muay thai, I did just to read it in my off time while I took classes. I don't have anyone to spar with and my class blows because they don't spar but atleast I got my techniques down cause of the book. But if you don't have muay thai look for kick boxing or something along that, most normal gyms have Kickboxing classes and they have some components of muay thai. They can atleast help you get down your basic kicks and such. Also, I'm sure the gym would have heavy bags.
