hi guys, I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone can help me. I am currently doing a sports therapy foundation degree and have just started a piece of nutrition work on a thai boxer. I have my clients food diary covering a month but I can not find anywhere, details of what a thai boxer should be eating and how many calories their intake should be. I know this could be the wrong site but if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. BTW, the coursework has to be completed by the 14th of this month ready for handing in on the 15th so please, please anyone???????????

Hi,
A thaiboxers nutrition does not need to be any different than any other high-intensity athlete's nutrition. Create a free account at www.fitday.com and input his meals. You'll be able to see the amount of carbs, protein and fat he is consuming and then make adjustments based on that.
As far as the number of calories, you could use a prediction equation to determine his basal metabolic rate and determine how many calories he is burning through exercise by using caloric expenditure exercise charts. Thaiboxing won't be on there but boxing, running, weights and other activities are. That can give you a general idea of how many calories needed to maintain bodyweight.
Hope that helps.
