  • Muaythai vs. Sanshou

    Samkor vs. Han Lei:

Sanshou fighters are getting a helluva lot better. In the past they could only beat cans. Looks like they've improved,

PS - did anyone else laugh at the Pabst Blue Ribbon sponsor at the end?

    If you say so.

You are entitled to your opinion.

I would much to prefer to have the MT fighters skills as he handed out a beating to the San Shou man. The San Shou man did little in the way of hurting his opponent.

      Just watched it over.

Just watched it again. Man what a thrashing the Thai gives. Knee, elbow kick and the San Shou keeps backing up as he is whalloped over and over. What kind of goofy ruleset could award him a win. One thing is for certain the San Shou promoters have not regard for the health of their fighters.

The point I was making is that san shou guys are actually getting in the ring with higher caliber muay thai fighters, as opposed to fighting cans and claiming san shou is superior.

I agree - the MT fighter got in there and took the fight to him!

          That is better?

You call that better? Good lord what did they look like before? I keep expecting to see a PLA troop with guns why he is in there.

The Muay Thai fighter was a better striker but the San Shou fighter took him down several times. In an MMA fight, the San Shou fighter might have finished him.

How did the Muay Thai figher hurt him more? He keep doing his left kicks and didn't even hurt the San Shou fighter.

But the point of the video is, as you missed it, San Shou fighters have improved a lot. They can stand toe to toe with any stand up style right now.

The muaythai fighter took the fight to him in terms of activity, but the san shou guy got the throws - and catching some of those kicks to get the throw is a sacrifice since he absorbs some of that shock.

Yeah, that is not good actually. You are not suppose to abosrb the kicks just to get a throw.

Especially against that particular Muay Thai Fighter. That's Samkor Kiatmontep. They used to call him the "left Dtae Assassin" due to the fact that he kicks so hard with his left leg.

I've seen the fight. Despite the fact that the chinese fighter won, I'll bet the Samkor had a much easier time getting out of bed the following morning.

Agreed. You could tell that some of the impact of those kicks sunk in...

                        From a ring perspective...

They must have been scoring that fight strictly on throws because the MT fighter was landing everything else.
