  • Can anyone tell me about HCX in joliet, il?

Just started doing muay thai down at ISU, but I live in Aurora and work around Chicago over the summer to pay for college. I'm really enjoying learning this and I'd like to continue over the summer without taking a 3 month break from something I Just started.

If anyone has any experience with this school or their instructors I'd love to hear from you guys.

I also found team torro and they're about the same distance from my house.

So if anyone has experience with them, that too would be cool

    Herb,

I am friends with both groups. You cannot go wrong with either one, in my opinion. I will say though that Ricardo with Team Toro is training top notch fighters and they have more of a "Thailand" feel with their training. Where are you training while at ISU? I am friends with Khru Dave Rogers, he was my first Thai instructor. He is in Normal. Team Toro would be similar to training with him.

Ron and James Hill are good guys too, though.

Ricardo brings fighters to my shows in Iowa pretty often and they always come to fight, they show alot of skill.

    Hope this helps.

      Yea, it helps alot.

The guys I'm training with right now are http://www.academyofmma.com/ , found them through mma.tv

After looking at both sites some more I think I'll probably end up going with team toro. In addition to what you said, the time he holds classes would just work better for me (lifting the other days of the week, and I have to drive to aurora from Chicago, get clean from pouring concrete, then drive out to burr ridge)

Does Dave Rogers have a website? Google isn't pulling up anything for me.

Who are the instructors where you train at now, I looked at that site, but saw no names or actual pics...only puppy pics, lmao, wtf is that all about??

No, Dave does not have a website, he is ancient man, lol. To be honest I dont know if he is back in his garage training or at a gym there in town. i just saw him a few weeks back, well actually it was last month at a seminar, but anyway, do you have his email addy? You can always reach him there. In my opinion, he is the best Mauy Thai instructor in the Bloom/Normal area and quite a ways beyond! IN fact, the U.S. Army has added Muay Thai in their combat curriculum and Dave is the reason why, he taught them and they adopted the material.

If you need info on how to reach him, let me know.

I will be back down to Heyworth the last weekend of this month, I may look him up.

The instructors are Leon and Troy. Not sure what their last names are. They run MT classes 4 days a week then 2 hour sparring sessions on the other 3 days.

And yea, have no idea what the puppy pictures are for.

I've only been to 4 classes so far, started a couple weeks back then took last week off because I was out of town for spring break.

Yea, if you could PM me or post his contact info I'd appreciate it. I paid for the month of march at this place but I didn't know there were any other instructors in the area. I'd like to check out Dave's gym since he comes so highly recommend it seems and see what time classes are. If It works around my class schedule I'll sign up for his gym for a month and train there until summer break hits.

If you don't mind me asking, how were his classes set up while you were training, how's the gym and how much does he charge?
