  • What does it mean when it says Kickboxing (aerobic)

Like does it mean that it's just a work out like the usual "kick boxing" lessons at most regular gyms. Or that it will actual teach you how to defend yourself in a fight. Because of the one the MA schools in Fresno has that for the ad. It says Muay Thai (Kick Boxing) and Kick Boxing (Aerobic).

It usually means a "get-in-shape" class for people who don't have much interest in getting in a ring, but even then you're looking at wide variety of classes.

My instructor teaches an "aerobic kickboxing" class that's just fine for moms who just want to get in shape at the same place that their kid goes to class, but he's got ring experience and a couple of amateur titles as a kickboxer and is teaching solid technique. At the other end of the spectrum, there's "aerobic kickboxing" taught by aerobics instructors who don't have any martial arts, boxing or kickboxing experience at all, and the moves they're teaching just look like boxing or kickboxing. There's nothing wrong with that if they're up front about it and you know what you're getting, but even if it's just to "get-in-shape" I'd prefer the real deal.

Muay Thai is more about elbows, knees and shin kicks.

Kick Boxing is just a bit of Karate mixed with western boxing.

yeah that's a top level view of it. just making sure as you wrote kick boxing (muay thai), which implies that another name for kick boxing is muay thai. This is a common misconception. I am not going to go into the differences, because it's been done to death on here. Just wanted to ensure that people are aware it's not the same.

              KB is anaerobic, not aerobic.
KB is a generic name like wrestling.
What is the difference between KB and MT? MT means Thai's boxing.

It's all the same. Some will disagree, but today, you can see MT incorporating western boxing. It's still MT, because of the rules. Furthermore, not all Thai boxing is a sport. KB is always a sport activity.
