  • MT Training videos...

I am interested in checking out some instructional videos to supplement my current training and am not sure what is good and what is garbage.

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for good Muay Thai training DVDs?

i like the duke roufus set. i think the most value for your money would be to get the 2 chai seminar review DVDs scott elliott made and sellson his site. they are short, but PACKED with training and very affordable. his site, i think, is: afsacademy.com. you should also ask tim mousel himself if he has anything on thai boxing.

Ajarn Chai put out a great one many years back that you can find on DVD.
Also, for clinch work, I've heard that Mailapet's is good, but I also know Khru Greg Nelson's series on the subject was pretty groundbreaking and comprehensive as well.

One to AVOID would be a cheap series that is out there that comes in a box with chinese characters...I took one look at the box and I knew it was complete bunk.

Still...a DVD is probably good to compliment existing training by giving you ideas to play around with with a partner or to look for further explaination as to why you do things a certain way or examining variations in techniques that change from school to school (i.e. where to put the arm on the kicking side while executing a thai kick) and the theory behind them. They also expand on cultural and historical aspects of the art that are sometimes neglected in training. You cannot learn thai boxing (or pretty much anything else) off of a video.
