  • muay koshasan?

muay koshasan? what is it. i know tony jaa useed some of it in tom yum goong aka the protector. but what does it look like out of the movies? is it effective and can you even still learn it or just pieces of it like lop buri.

it was created for the movies, "a theatrical recreation from historical texts" as my researcher friend told me. They crafted a backstory of it for the movie to try to keep everything Thai. Jaa trains with alot of different stylists and brings those different styles into each movie. I mean ong bak 2 is mostly kung fu and they probably have a story about the thainess of it.

I have to ask my teacher in the next email. But i seem to remember just a few people still remember the style, it along with some bare knuckle systems seemed to have been forgotten. But I will check.

your welcome. as i am told it is a very loose style in the way it is performed ie like a monkey. also the training we did in it or was supposed to be it had very deceptive movements to out manuever your opponent. really a playful looking type of thing but very effective.

I got an email back as to his training and research into muay lopburi is that it only remains with a few people who it seems where trained by their father or grandfathers. Not that it is secretive or hidden but that when interest died down they stopped playing it and nobody became interested in it anymore. So I guess it survives in pieces it seems. Alot of fast hand techniques and fakes and feints for the setups from what he tells me, so there is a strategy in attack and counterattack. He said it bore a little resemblance to muay lanna in the motion and movement but they are two different styles. If you want firecobra, you can PM me and i can give you his info if you want direct contact as well as his email newsletter, he can maybe give you more or answer your questions more directly.
