Thanks for the link George,I have seen them playing the Sabadchai drum in Chiang Mai and I was amazed, they used elbows (inc spinning) knees(include jumping) feet and head! also the guys with the swords were spinning I think it was 8 or even more around their body!.

Thanks for the link, I had never seen or heard about Lanna music being played that way, that's music for the battlefield indeed!

            Yes, That's Lanna style.

It is mostly performed during special occasion and celebration today.

They move in a very circular way like the burmese.

Lanna / Lanchang is much more close to Burma and Lao than lower Siam those days. Before the border lines has been divided as Thailand, Myanmar, Loa and Malaysia in the last century. They ruled their own but sometimes they fought Burmese, sometimes they fought Thai.

In the past, the way they ruled Suwannabhumi region just like gangster. The biggest had power, the others decided who they would stay with. So there were no exact line of country. It's easier to seperate by races than country. Since border lines have been divided, now we have Thailand which has a lot of different old races and cultures mixed together.

                BTW,

Here are more videos on Sabadchai drums. (drums of victory)
