  • Fairtex videos???

Has anyone here checked out the Fairtex videos? If so, what did you think?

Also, any recommendations would also be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

It's a quality set of videos, geared more toward begining to intermediate levels (IMHO). Well worth having, though a little pricey.

      BTW.

There are 9 tapes in the set:

1- Basic Fighting Stance and Movement.
      2- Body Kicks
      3- Leg Kicks
      4- Head Kicks
      5- Straight Knee
      6- Clinch Knee
      7- Elbows
      8- Fighting Defense
      9- Fight Training

Pluses=Material presented very well, top quality production and very usable techniques. Like Fairtex equipment, top of the line.

Drawback: each tape is only 20 minutes long and the set is a bit pricey. I got a deal on the set though.

The vids are good for basics but like William said incredibly short for the money. Like 20 minutes with the credits.

I am not supporting copyright infringement but they are all online if you know where to look. No I will not give details because that WOULD be supporting copyright infringement.

                  Yes I do.

I still occasionally check them out individually. Kind of weird in a way now that Alex is gone.

PS: I don't support ripping them off on the web either. Just me, just saying.

I have no clue, this was told to me after my one friend saw I had the entire set on VHS and mentioned that I "could have gotten them for free."

                      Thai Boxing 1 and 2

Or Basic and Advanced Thai Boxing, by Master Chai Sirisute. Probably out of print by now, they were produced in the mid-80s, as part of a 3-tape set which also included a video of self-defense techniques, with both Master Chai and Guro Dan. Any of these is an excellent reference, if nothing else for the historical value. A lot of the 'older' stuff is not covered in seminars now, because the older, senior students are supposed to have taught it to their students so Master Chai does not have to continue teaching basics. This was Master Chai's attempt to teach respect, and to encourage Basic Certificate holders to set up regional seminars with Full Instructors; to further aid the growth of the Association.

I too would recommend Ajarn's videos. Not only for the historical value as chalambok states but to watch how fast Ajarn was and still is in my opinion though he has recently been downplaying his speed. Guro I. does a great job of narration and though Ajarn has changed some small things in regards to technique I still find myself popping them in every once in a while.

I have footage of Master Chai and seen footage that Chalambok has, Master Chai is indeed very fast. In one set he is holding the pads for a gentleman who is testing. Much of the time the guy never saw his round kicks coming...switch-step BANG!!

I can't imagine Ajarn holding for a test.
