  • When you first trained MT

Did your instructor taught you the basics of TKD kicks or any other arts before you were taught to learn the REAL thai kicks?

NO! Wasn't there to learn TKD......was there to learn Muay Thai. The fundamentals are different. No chambering, hit with the shin, hit thru the target. All different, so no use to learn the other way only to change it up afterwards.

        Why?

Why would they show you TKD kicks in a Thai Gym??? If I see someone doing that in my gym, I tell them to correct it immediately. Usually people resort to snap kicks in my place, because there not understanding the full power of the Thai kick, so they think the snap is more powerful, because it's fast and it makes a nice sound on the Thaipads. If you do a proper Thai Kick on the pad, your partner will start to move back.

          Well around my area

I can`t find any good, or at least "worth it" thai gyms around my area. but my school, it`s weird. They combine few other arts put together. One class all we did were TKD kicks!!!! I HATE TKD !!! Gosh, I dun wanna put it down or anything, I just hate it. I was on kazaa once, I downloaded a TKD fight, all they did was bounce around for like 2 mins and they attack, bounce around for more time, then attack, BORING. I know you can`t judge a style over just one video. Anyways I saw another one Muay Thai VS. TKD, TKD got leveled, he suffered lots of low roundhouse kicks

Now that class, that happened once, it might happen again. because they combine kickboxing with muay thai. I am not putting down the school, I just want to LEARN MUAY THAI ONLY. Instructor seems nice, students don`t seem to bother me. I just don`t like how they train.

I planned to go to fairtex camp in the U.S. or Mike Mile`s over at Calgary and train there. but you know, i`m only 14 years old. And money is an issue right now in my family. I`m not that crazy over muay Thai, I don`t want to take a plane just to learn this art. but I still wanna learn it, effectively. Whether in the ring, or outside the ring.

              Give this a go

I don't anything about it but it won't hurt to give them a ring.

                i`m sorry

i forget to mention ONE thing... ahh actually my school isn`t exactly a Thai Gym. I wish it was, it would be great cause now I have made a few friends. It seems as if they mix and incoroporate other stuff/techniques from other styles. I would be just happy enough if they trained the knees and elbows every time I`m there for the basics. Anyways I love knee strikes, as a very weak person, for me I think i`ll be using my elbow a lot on the streets, and when they decide to tackle me, (going towards my leg) then... * POOOOWWWWW* knee right on their head! (if no effect, then I will drive a knee right on their nuts. *ouch*)
