    it depends

if muay thai is a sport then gradualy people will place more and more restrictions on it to prevent injuries and it will eventualy suck.

If like me you see muay thai as a fighting style then so long as nobody changes it, it will stay good.

But what if in "the future" people never fight? nobody will bother with muay thai because theyll all be playng virtual reality computer games. what if due to surgery, cybernetic implants and genetic modification the shape of the human body changes? can you do a low roundhouse kick on a guy with no legs, why bother with kicking when youve got seven arms? whose going to use a stand up style if we have gills and live underwater.

The futer of muay thai is as unpredictable as the rest of the future. it all depends.

destroy world to save muay thai

the only way to safeguard against muay thai sucking in the future is to destroy the world before anyone can change it.

everything changes over time...it's called evolution.
no martial arts today would be around without changes over a period of time (for better or worse), just look at TKD this split in half and one side stayed traditional and the other half was adapted for competition sports.
i think so far evolution of martial arts has done us proud with so many choices and levels.

        live long and prosper!!!

I think all martial arts involve some way or another. The Filipinos had to adapt and refine their style of fighting to resist a Spanish invasion.

I'm sure there have been martial arts that have been suppressed or lost in time, whilst other have survived.

Many of the (traditional) martial arts were designed for warfare. Wars these days aren't fought like these used to be (with more emphasis on guns, technology and other stuff), but people are still learning martial arts. I feel the arts will stay alive if people want to learn.
