sidestepping, and kicking the non kicking leg

I haven't had much experience with thai technique.. not enough to really call myself an intermediate, even, in my eyes..

Have you guys had any luck defending against round kicks with the angle off/sidestep and then kicking the inside of the supporting leg? I remember doing drills for this, and it seemed really applicable.

I ask, mainly, because lots of people in the "stopping a kick" thread say they don't favor using stop kicks.. so I'm curious to know if any of you use the sidestep/supporting leg kick..

i step away catch the leg and than....
    1 Knee the leg
    2 elbow the leg
3 put glove on chest/face and knee the head
4 put glove on chest/face and thai kick the calf to drop him

Or try to step in and punch just above the knee to hyperextend it.

i dont kick a kicking leg.

My Thai Boxing instructor told me that in order to perform a cut kick sucessfully, you need to begin you sidestep as they step to open their hips for the kick. If you wait for the hips to telegraph the attack it will probably be too late.

      happy leg kicking
