Why is this post in like 2 different threads?
Also why is it in the thai kick boxing thread?
Judo is proberley the best art to add more throws, I made a massive speech about the best throws to do in the mixed amrtial arts section, as I am a practioner of Judo, any questions you would like to ask me, e-mail me or pm me.

Greco Roman teaches easily learned combat effective throws that translate well to the street.
If you wrestle then jst keep wrestling and do freestyle in the off season.
If you know what a bodylock is then think of the following:
(a body lock is basically a position where you have both of your arms under your opponent's arms and have secured a hold around their body by grabbing your own hands -- "bear hug". I believe Khuen Khru Greg Nelson refers to them as a "double under" in his Clinch videos.)
1. Body lock to "belly to belly" suplay
2. Body lock to back trip
3. Side Body lock to sweep
4. Side body lock to suplay
5. Side bodylock to "go behind" to back trip
6. Side bodylock to "go behind" to "belly to back" suplay
7. Side bodylock to "go behind" to schoolboy
and on and on and on.
The clinch is a position that almost all comabative sports have; however, Muay Thai and Greco Roman have some great strategic advantages over most styles of fighting that I have seen.
I mentioned Khuen Khru Nelson's videos above and I strongly suggest EVERYONE go out now and purchase them. Khuen Khru Nelson was an All-American wrestler and a member of the 1980 US Olympic Judo team (the year we boycotted), he knows what he's talking about and does an excellent job of communicating his thoughts on the Clinch videos.

Like I said above, keep on wrestling, and good luck.Last edited by DJ Coldfusion; 01-20-2003, 12:18 PM.

At least for me Aikido like throws fit well into the structure of Wing Chun or JKD-type trapping - especially when somebody "counters" with a lot of forward and downward pressure (when they are bigger than I am).
But maybe the "glue" that fit the two together is my tai chi experience. Try it out for yourself - may or may not work for you.

Ok i decided to weigh in on this..... Book knowledge is great in all but you need to have hands on experience in doing these types of things. You also need to have a qualified and capable person to teach them to you. So i would say, drop the books and go enroll in a class somewhere.

Well you certainly wouldnt be the first person to move to a better place for martial arts. It really depends on how dedicated you are to the arts. I am trying to talk my wife for some time to move to LA to be close to the Inosanto academy and Erik Paulsons CSW school. I am dedicated to continue training but my wife and new born son say otherwise
