  • with ghost. High intensity weight training is better then bodybuilding weights.

Lifting at 11 years old? that would have stunted ur growth champ, dont pretend you know best. One can work the twitch fibers which will make you throw down quicker, other things will make you stronger. As i said in my previous post, just because you can bench 180kg, doesnt mean you have standing clinch strength, which requires leg, shoulder, bicep and arm strength.

Thai's train at a very early age, which is why they are so good. Look at how many fights a thai has over a westerner. John Wayne Parr has only had 40 odd bouts where other Thai's have had 200 odd. For your own info doc, JWP has trained in Thailand and mixed it with the best in the world.. he has a weight routine.

You need to do it all, weights will can only help, cant hinder. I believe another poster through up a link that showed that weights doesnt slow you down? i may have read that elsewhere.

Fire, high rep, lower weight should help your endurance, not hinder it. Give that technique ago and see if you like it.

Doc what facts are you looking at? I would really like to know. Im looking at training at Fairtex gym this year for a month and guess what... they have a gym with weights for our use.

gyms now days dont let you in the door to do weights if you're not 15 or 16, well in Australia. If you were lifting at 11, when your body has barely started to develop, i cant see it being good for you.

Just my opinion though. there is that little Hercules kid running round.

Of course you're not going to have an 11 year old throwing up huge weight, but lifting in a reasonable way for what a kid can do at any age is good for the body.

They don't let younger kids into the weight room because they'd hurt themselves (not by lifting, but by playing around dangerous equipment) and the lawyers don't like that.

              • No weights - Kettlebells and Body Weight Training

I believe traditional weight training provides little benefit for a fighter. Weight training builds isolated mass which helps but provides minimal benefit overall. Using equipment like Kettlebells or full body weight exercises help to build full body strength because the exercises are designed to engage many muscle groups of the body instead of isolating a single muscle area. This helps to train the brain/nervous system to engage these muscle groups to perform a function very similar to when we throw a punch or a kick. Many of the exercises also have the additional benefit of cardio.
