  • Martial arts, Fighting arts, Ringsports

Alright, is there such thing as arts that fall into either one category; martial art, or fighting art, a ringsport, etc. Now, let me get this straight, is Muay Thai a martial art or a FIGHTING art ? The "Advanced fighting systems" like Bando and such, they are Fighting arts and not martial arts, correct me if I`m wrong. If Muay Thai is a striking art, and a ringsport nowadays, would it still be classified as Martial Art style ?

One last thing, what do you guys think about Sumo Wrestlers ?

Better to keep quiet and apear stupid than to speak and remove all doubt.

Calling a 9mm a gun, a pistol, or a banana doesn't matter, if you get shot it's gonna hurt.

Fighting art, martial art. abstract art. they are just words that won't tell you anything about the art or the level of the students.

                            this thread has died

this thread has deteriorated due to sillyness. muay thai is muay thai, you can treat it as fighting, an art, a sport. i think of it as a fighting style because thats how it was created. sumos are just big huge guys, they can push people over and i think they use palm strikes, i think they eats loads as part of their training, makes sense: more weight = more power and less damage taken from hits. makes you a bigger target though, might not last long in a shooting match.

A banana is much more easy to disarm than a pistol. You have to pull the lever releasing the 15 tonne weight over your opponents head. Then you eat the banana, thus disarming him.
