Heavy bag filling

Hello,
I just bought a new 6ft leather thai bag. I would like some suggestions for filling it. I know I know!!! Rocks and Sand LOL.
I just want a good workout and improve my technique so that is a bit harsh. anything else that is not as hard yet no super soft???

You can try using garment/cloth scraps. If you want it soft, don't pack that much in it...if u want it hard, pack it really tight...

Thanks pachanga!!! Someone else suggested that and it sounds reasonable.. THey said line the bag with carpet padding, put a 40 pound bag of sand at the bottom, then fill with old clothes. the garment scapes sound better because I imagine the density would be better!! Anyway do you know where I can get them from??? I live in So. Cal in the Inland Empire......

You can try going to some garment factories. Usually, you can get them for free since this is what they throw away...Don't know around here.

I bought a bag from fairtex and filled it w/ the scraps and it's pretty hard. My teacher has one that's also filled w/ scraps and it's really really hard. I guess it depends how hard you pack the cloth scraps inside of it. Just remember that the cloth takes a while to settle down...i'm sure if you kick your bag regularly, your shins will get conditioned pretty quick. You're not going to notice how hard the bag is after a while that's what happened to me.

Also, I think you have to add the cloth scraps a little at a time and pack it in....This is something I forgot to do (i filled the bag 1st and tried packing it). This will make the bag harder...which is something i now want.

The 'Fairtex' method

I recently purchased a 6' banana bag from Fairtex and they recommended filling it with cotton strips, preferably denim - Fairtex uses garment scraps in their pre-filled bags. Their packing method is as follows:

Pack the bag in 1' increments, packing it from the center outward with something heavy such as a sledgehammer. This produces a solid bag with smooth surfaces.

pack it with leather off-cuts from your local shoe/jacket repair shop this will give you a nice heavy & tough bag
