I was just wondering where everyone went to get their MT shorts, what they paid, and how they like them. I've had one pair for a while from Fairtexgear.com that I got on sale for 20 bucks, and I just got 2 more from thaismai-usa.com for about 45 bucks total. I think the Fairtex shorts are more comfortable (a little longer and more flair/room in the lower legs)...can't exactly go to the local sproting goods shop to get them, so I'm looking for recommendations for future places online to buy...

My favorite brands are Thaismai & Inter for shorts. I haven't tried Twins shorts, though I've heard they are good. The best deals I've seen for shorts (other than clearance sales) are available through Thaismai.
I don't know how to get INTER shorts online. They are sold at one of the stadium outlets in Bangkok.
The problem with getting shorts from Thailand, though, is that they are cut smaller. Thats probably why Fairtex shorts are the most comfortable for you. My most comfortable pair of shorts was made by a company called Thunsmai (Thaismai knock-off) with the Channel 7 "TV for You" logo.

When I got my first pair of Thai trunks, I used to wear them around EVERYWHERE!!! The novelty of that wore off in about a month or two. Since that time, I only wear them while training.

UNDER YOUR CLOTHES!!!
i wear mine under my trousers on the way to the gym to save time but i couldn't wear them all the time as they are to tight around the belly, especially when driving.

Regarding where to purchase Inter brand shorts online, take a look at www.soccernmore.com. They also sell other brands of shorts like Fairtex, Windy, etc. and other Muay Thai equipment.Comment

Gotta agree with retired on this one...it's convienent from the house to the gym to have them under your warm ups, but they are overall snug around the waist. I understand the whole daydreaming thing, but after the first hour wearing them around the house, I remembered that it was winter and about 30F degrees outside
I actually got my first pair because our gym's MT "uniform" consists of a tee shirt with the gym logo on the front/"thai-boxing" on the back and a pair of cotton shorts. Cotton shorts shrink in the wash and hold too much sweat. The only other shorts our instructor will let us wear to class are MT shorts. Otherwise, I've seen basketball shorts on clearance for 5 bucks that are just as comfortable as the MT shorts (if not moreso).

www.thaismai-usa.com (the black ones that they have on sale and the blue with yellow lettering). The blue ones are OK (but I like the Fairtex cut better). With the lettering on the black ones being thick and one solid block, it's a little uncomfortable and you can really tell that the lettering is there during a workout...just stuff to look for when shopping

fairtex does make a more "western" cut. since it caters to westerners here. and the style of all athletes here is to wear big baggy styles. i have been told that we are expensive though.
although in thailand if you notice they wear shorter closer fitting shorts and often hitch them up quite a bit.
inter makes good shorts i have a few pairs but they are definitely cut smaller.

I get my MT shorts through ebay, especially from Thaidirect. There is a ton of MT stuff on ebay as well.Comment

Here is an excerpt from their last newsletter that I thought was worthy of passing on.
"Equipment delivery times will now be up to 4-6 weeks, because Muay Thai popularity has grown rapidly over the past few years and it's gotten harder and harder for the manufacturers to keep up with demand.
Because all equipment is hand-made, it takes approximately 3-5 years for one person to learn how to properly make equipment so there are not an abundance of people who are capable of making quality equipment."
Personally, as for the stuff on Ebay, most of the new items you find are just cheap knock-off's, unless you find somebody selling off some of their good gear.
And a lot of the new stuff is cheap Pakistani equipment. I would just as soon burn my money then buy some of that crap.Comment
