  • Thai Banana Bag Question

    Hello
I have a 40 lb bag in my house, and I put a tiedown on it, but it still swings against the wall. I am looking into a banana bag, but they cost loot. My question is, has anyone ever made anything like this?
    Thanks

    Make a Banana Bag

In the course of setting up and helping run the PNW Muay Thai Camp, we have had banana bags made for us by a local seamstress. We went to a canvas supply, got some vinyl the appropriate thickness and dimensions, took them over and had the lady sew them for us. We got 2 bags made and filled for $70 apiece. These bags are 24" diameter by 7' long. The average banana bag is 16" by 6', so I think they would be less expensive. We also filled our bags with sawdust, which is more expensive than straw. So, I think you can get one made for about $60 if you diligently search out bargains. Good luck

      Banana Bag

      Hello
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a good idea. My girlfriend is in fashion, and we have the industrial sewing machines right in our house, so it will be even cheaper when she finally shows me how to sew them. Did you fill them yourselves or have someone do it for you?
      Thanks

        Filling Your Bag

We went to a landscape supply store and bought a truckload of sawdust for $16. Afterwards, Master Chai told us he wanted the bags filled only the bottom 24", then to stuff them with straw the rest of the way up. If you want to stuff your bag with rags, that can be an expensive way to go, most rags costing 29 cents a pound or more. And then you should cut them into strips about 1" wide. When you are finished, however you stuff the bag, you will have the satisfaction of having created your own training aid.
