  • How many here train, for ring or self defence?

How many here actually train but don't really follow a balanced diet ? Do you guys just eat regular but just try to eat more healthy food ?

I always thought following a 'balanced diet' or counting your calories intake, how much protein you eat each day was hard to maintain. So I asked here

I fail to see how your title and questions about diet/nutrition are correlated. That said, I train hard and eat healthy. Both are required for proper health and fitness. Think how much more fit and healthy some of the most active could be if they didn't eat like crap. Or think how much more time they'd have not having to burn off all the crap that they eat. I don't count calories or anything, but I make sure to have healthy snacks (fruit, nuts, yogurt, etc) around 95% of the time.

Hey, besides the healthy snacks, what do you eat for meals and what do you absolutely avoid?

Meals: mainly seafood, chicken, and vegetables. I always try to get some carbs, but aim mainly for unrefined foods (wild rice vs white, wheat bread vs white, brown sugar or honey vs white sugar....when sugar is a necessity).
          Avoid: Most anything fried.

My weekends I eat pretty much whatever, but after awhile, even your "cheat" days become somewhat healthy. Course, 5 or 6 times a year, I've gotta go to Mike Linnig's and have the most delicious fried fish and hushpuppies known to man.

It's how you eat most of the time that is going to be noticable. If you eat good 5 days of the week and not so good the other 2 (assuming you don't triple your calorie intake), you'll be doing ok.
