One of my teachers and friend, Pedro Villalobos has finally gotten his website up, and his patience and hardwork have paid off. For those of you interested, the URL is www.ancientmuaythai.com .

Pedro is not only a fantastic teacher, but a great guy. And as he would say, what goes around comes around. If you are ever in Thailand, make the effort to see him, I guarantee you'll learn something.

My friend was asking me about Thailand and said he had a book written by a really good fighter guy called Pedro someone. I said "it wasn't Pedro Villalobos was it?" He said "Yes, Dave. Yes it was. How did you know?".

I smugly told him that I had been hanging out with Pedro in Chiang Mai here and there for a few weeks.

My friend was like WHAAAAAT? and I was like

I just sent a message to Kru Pedro. Hopefully I`ll be able to train with him when I go down to Chiang Mai this coming April. I would like to do a combination of training with him and with training at Lanna.

Right now my plans are still in their formation stages, but I`m sure I`ll have some questions as my travel date gets nearer.

April is an interesting time to go. How long are you staying for? I think you might find it quite warm. May is the absolute hottest in Chiang Mai. The cold season is well done, and there is no hope for the rain yet. April also has Songkran, which is quite interesting as well. Some people love it, some people hate it.

I think a balance between the two is a great idea. You'll certainly get more personal attention with Pedro, he limits his class sizes. Lanna has more of a free for all system, but if you have the drive, they'll put you to work.

I`ll be staying for a minimum of 3 months, I`d like to stay for 6 months if possible. I think a mix of Lanna and Villalobos would be great. I would like to start with Villalobos just to get my technique polished up and to correct any bad habits I`ve probably picked up over the years, then "go to work" with Lanna.

I`m not so worried about the heat - I lived in Singapore for about two years, but Songrkan? That frightens me more than SARS!
