If the skill levels are the same or nearly identical, then no way could a female fight and defeat a male fighter. That would probably be totally unfair just based on upper body strength, although I suppose she could immobilize a male fighter with repeated leg strikes to maintain distance and stay away from the clinch. Problem is, a few heavy handed punch combos would probably be all it takes from the male fighter to get through her blocks and rack her chin.
An advanced female fighter would kick a male beginners ass with technique alone, counter kicks, punches, combos, etc. There are some very good female MT'ers out there.

Here's all you need to know...
Ever hear of Lucia Rijker? Best female kickboxer ever. No losses in her 40+ fight career. Won just about every single world title and beat just about every champion. She was nicknamed "Lady Tyson".
Then she decided to fight a man - i believe his name was Jaidee. He was a run of the mill Thai fighter...
... and she got KOed in the first round.
I have a nice little video clip of that.

We have had a couple good female Muay Thai-ers in my gym and while it's true they couldn't stand long against many of the men, they are really good to train with.
Women who train seriously (in my limited experience) tend to become even more aggressive than many of the men. Our instructors coach them to come in fast, throw off several attacks and get out of range before their (male) oppenent can wallop them.
One of our instructors was female and she was really good in the clinch - especially good at throwing and unbalancing. She couldn't compete with men fifty pounds heavier and similarly skilled, but that doesn't mean she wasn't a hell of a lot better than her male students. She would tell you, and I would have to agree, that consistently training with people who are a lot bigger than you will make you a lot better.
To digress a little (but not much) Oscar De La Hoya couldn't take very many professional heavy weight boxers - that doesn't mean he isn't one of the best boxers in the world - only that he isn't one of the largest.
It's perfectly obvious that a much smaller person can't
compete with a much larger one given similar skill.
Besides that, what's your point?
