kinda...it depends on the level of competition. Some rise to meet the challenge, and some, well...shrink away.

        • Muay Thai + San Shou + BJJ = best ever!!!!

Striking + standup grappling or takedown + wrestling and groundfighting.

I think what you meant to say was "muay thai + wrestling(not san shou) + bjj"

same as yours but I would have to say wrestling is more effective then san shou due to the simplicity of technique. as a matter of fact I think thats what makes all these forms so effective is the simplicity.

saying this you put yourself on top of everyone here... You say that 99.9% of the comments are ridiculous which means that you imply yours fits in that remaining 0.1%... you must be Einstein of real fighting then

Nope, I meant what I said. Muay Thai + San Shou + BJJ. Judging from what you said about San Shou, you don't know much about the art. San Shou is simplistic, and it is about speed rather than positioning. The reason I pick San Shou is because BJJ have a bit of wrestling in there already. You can incorporate a bit of wrestling and combine with BJJ and you are set for groundfighting and grappling. However, San Shou is useful because San Shou trains you how to grapple limbs from a standup position. For example, clinching a kick or a knee. Once you clinch, you can immediately take them down and go into groundfighting or wrestling.

HHHHHHHMMMMMMM,that's funny you say that since the hand to hand military systems come from martial arts.

Such as MuayThai is a martial arts used in Thailand for the armed forces and U.S marines also use it from what I last remember reading.

Canadian army uses Judo,Jujitsu,Wrestling,Boxing,Kickboxing and some other martial arts styles.

that is correct. St. Pierre(ufc guy, blah blah) helped to train Canadian military, not sure exactly what branch though.

                    • Krav Maga was developed by the Israeli special forces, but it doesn't get nearly as much respect as other military arts like Muay Thai, kickboxing, San Shou, etc.

                      • I'd say knowing any martial arts well will be enough to survive a real fight and usually win it if fighting an untrained opponent.

                        • Any martial art is effective in real life situations.Even though I'd have to say, Muaythai would be the most effective, maybe even bujikan.

                          • Very Good question!

I went to the ground two times:

First when I was knocked down in a gang fight: Me against more than 10 in the building hall: Behind me tha hall, in front of me those man.

Second: When I was body guard: I was coming straight from my ju-jutsu training, and that man wanted to enter, and wasn't satisfied with my answer, I knew the fight couldn't be avoided (simple experience) So we started (almost the same time). I wasn't concerned by the fight, but I wanted just to see if the last choke I learned was working. Yes, It was working! But the mand Bite me right away like crazy, we falled down on the stairs, and when at the end he was on me.

Beside that, I did a lot of other fights(street). I know what is an ambush, where I lived, just go out of your home and walk like a gentleman, without doing nothing, and before you know why, you find yourself in a fight... I am happy I don't live there now.

But will I go to the groud? What? NEver (And I did train Ju Jutsu, and still training).

But why in the world will I want to go to the ground in a real fight?

I want him to go to the groun, and then kick his head like I was a soccer champion...

And whoever tell that 90/10 to the ground.

Here is my answer: Yes, it can be true, but the real question is why he is going to the ground? Because of a take down! Huh

Let me tell you what I know: Because he is stabbed, or something like that...
I am practising ju jutsu and others because I like martial arts, but not because I want that to help me in the street.

                            It's a really big confusion.

The only thing that can help you in the street is your experience.

You know when to run, when to hit, who you must absolutely not hit (otherwise you are dead). You must know the rules of the street.

Who said no rules in the street is totally crazy and will get killed.

The best self defense I know and advise people to learn and practice first is:

Run Fast, and while you run, try to avoid to be hitted by a car...

Besides, who wants to get that intimate with a stranger?

                                It is the best technique.

I think we should find a name for it!
