I know that you are going to tell me to practice kicks from all distances but at what distance should i focus on? MY Tenuh (sp) as moved me closer to the bag then doing my daily dose of 100 kicks per leg. But the thing that worries me is that my kicks don't go in "pretty" when i am close. I hit the bag with the thick part of my shin like I am supposed to but it's not a straight line like ____ it's at a slight angle. Does practice cure this?

If we train to always kick in an exact angle & distance from our opponent then when things get messy and your in close your techniques become week and fall apart.
That's why it's good to train to kick when in really close & at varying distances & angles.
Some top K1 fighters manage to pull off some powerfull head kicks when in so close that most would have trouble even kicking low from here so practice works.

its hard to say what distance you should focus on. On the one hand, "yes" you need to practice your kicks from a variety of distance and angles, but at the same time, you have to figure out what your optimum "comfort" range is.
Your kicking distance needs to revolve around your individual fight strategy, which is reliant on what your strengths and weaknesses are. If kicking is your strength, then you would want to focus on longer range kicking attacks. If boxing is more your strength, you want to focus on closer range kicks.
For instance, I like to kick from boxing distance. I don't like to stand on the outside and just kick because my kicks are slower, making it easier for my opponents to see my weight shift and prepare a defense. I kick from punching distance because I can then lead off my combo's with a few punches to my opponents face to distract him from the kicks that are coming right behind them.

Train at both.
You should try to focus on both long and short range kicks, because if your opponent has alot more reach on you you will want to be in close to smother his attacks and fire those kicks. If your opponent has little reach on you then you can shatter him/her with kicks from a distance. At least this is how my instructor taught me. don't worry about "pretty" attacks just as long as they accomplish their purpose.
