Yeah, I read the post but it didn't make any sense, so I started asking questions. If you lock up a strangle hold you immobilize yourself and both of your hands are busy maintaining it. While you're busy trying to hold onto that your hostage's buddies are going to bury you if they're even a little serious about hurting you. They'll be done with you long before you have time to choke a person out. Sorry Boar, I always enjoy your posts but so far this idea is a loser.
who said choke? I said strangle...there IS a difference, if you use it without regard for the other guys welfare it isnt slow...as soon as you apply a PROPER strangle it will instantly induce PANIC....dont bother trying to figure it out if you havent had it done you wont understand the concept....there are different grips and hand positions that make these instantly effective/lethal...i know of NO way to safely apply it properly in a struggle...this can be applied and the damage done while spinning/launching the person into his buddies....you better intend to kill people though, because you may...
Hey, Knifethrower, im puttin you on the spot...i demonstrated this technique and the full nelson strangle on YOU...whats your take on them?
remember also i never advocate empty hand SD If you have knife training, you can pick up virtually anything and turn it into a weapon....i found a toothbrush once you created the scenario, id rather strike, stomp, and projectile people than grab em , but there is a time and place for everything...human shields do work...but a knife or two in the clavicle makes a better handle than the strangle or RNC
You might THINK that, huh? It only takes a moment to CRUSH a trachea...Granted your sport version of a strangle is nice and gentle, works fast enough for a player (to tap out) and requires BOTH arms to "lock it up" but trust me here, the trachea will STAY damaged long after they let go of you. It can be crushed with the forearm or a ridge hand strike or a "judo" chop. No need to hang on to it. Unless you need a shield from his buddies.. But don't take my word on it. You might want to brush up on the procedures for a quick tracheostomy if you attempt this on your friends. First aid to save their life is important to know, don't you think? (It's actually a surgical procedure and should only be performed by a qualified surgeon)

I have not heard that for many years... I think I may have said something like that (posted to that affect) but to read it from another QCQ guy just tickles!
A handle LOL Yeah! Just another handle...

What’s my take on them!?!?! They hurt like fuk, man! On the spot!? No I’m not; that’s an easy fukin question. “On the spot” the spot would be something I’m not sure of or that I don’t know but this is easy. The full nelson actually hurt my neck before anything else but I taped kinda fast. However, the strangle hold was different. You put that on me first and I didn’t know to tap fast. As soon as it is applied, it’s like “oh ****! That’s my life, dude!”

I sometimes think how difficult (or easy) it might be to hook one of my little karambits in a mandible and lead a man around by his bleeding jawbone or how fast he might be able to retract his hooked palm and rip his own hand wide open.... Maybe that Jones character is right about me? I have a sickness that few can appreciate.

Sweet Keating laughingly says that anyone who takes the time to learn the knife has more than passing interest in violence
I think he has a point
Edit: The pikal grip is one of my favorites BECAUSE of the natural ripping when the opponents flesh flees the steel.
This is HOW people SHOULD train mass attacks.
Note the weapons, note the reality of the scenarios presented. This is quality.
that isnt bad, however the bad guys never continue to fight after being slashed or stabbed, that isnt reality you cant leave the assumption the attacker stopped just because you "got" him with the blade, they're knives not magic wands...

Look at the location of the cuts. If you slash and pull through the throat area, or the groin area, arm area...you're severing tendons and ligaments or arteries...so they either pass out due to blood loss and die, or they are permanently crippled and maimed, you cut somebody deep enough on the inside of the arm and they won't be ABLE to hold a knife. They're hand WILL open, involuntarily, and they will drop it, because the tendons needed to hold their hand closed are no longer there.

No disrespect, but this is more of a case of lack of comprehension than it is lack of comprehensive information. It seems to me that Sagacious Lu is speaking from what he believes, as opposed to what I have done, and therefore know. I am confident that, unless Sagacious Lu is a psychopath, if I had his father, brother, son or best friend in my grasp with them screaming for them to back up because I put his windpipe in a position that its never been before, you'd listen. The only time you choke is so that you can create the effect I described previously. The eye gouging was for the blood intimidation and control. How do I know? Because this is a tried and true method that you pick up when you deal with crowds and violence. There are little nuances that you learn to improve it along the way, but the basics are always the same:
Maintain control of the man.
Don't let the man see.
Keep him off balanced.
Give visuals and sounds to "authenticate" your threat.(blood & screaming)
Appear calm and cool so not to further exacerbate the tempers and adrenaline levels.
The moment that you decided to play G.I. Joe and rushed in is the moment that your father, brother, son or best friend would experience a dislocation that would cause him to give quite a dramatic performance. At least one of you would rush over with concern, and he would be the next shield. This time, I can guarantee that I'll have all of their attention.
I'm not advocating anyone to do this. This is something that I posted that you might want to be aware of if your ass was on the line and you didn't have an edged weapon. I didn't even get into the whole business of neck manipulations.
I'm sorry, but I have to deviate for a moment. I'm not about debate the "worthiness" of technique. If you think that you're going to begin throwing people around effortlessly or speed hitting 5 angry guys whose adrenaline is already pumping and bent on beating you down, then you watch too many movies.
Truth is, and you can call this an assumption as only YOU really know, most people aren't fast enough to pull off speed hitting 5 guys. They aren't skilled enough to pull off throwing opponents in the heat of battle. And they aren't smart enough to pull off weaving in and out and thinning the herd. Maybe career martial artists who train everyday and make this their livelihood, but certainly not anyone who casually takes lesson for 6 months to a year and then move on to something else the next year. They master nothing, but once they understand the underlying principles of a concept and/or technique, they think they've got it down cold, but they never do. Their understanding of the desired effect is solid but their technique is shtty.
There is NOTHING like leaving the confines in which you train in and getting your ass whipped to show you how much you don't know and how much you still have to learn. Every real martial artists has gone through this if he was sincere in his pursuit of becoming his best. If you haven't, you're more like a weekend warrior looking to learn some "moves" or build some insignificant record of dojo wins that won't make a difference once the sh!t hits the fan.

yeah, yeah, yeah, clothing and jewelry can deflect a blade so can bone, besides people get shot and continue to function long enough to kill you...dont tell me people can't continue to fight through a knife wound...people dont magically instantly die....blades get dropped, slung, etc, people tend to reflexivly slap at wounds as well....bad for you if he had a knife in that hand...even a lifeless one
