Contary to popular belief, being a cop does not automatically make you a "gun guy". There are a whole lot of cops out there who's only time shooting is when they are required to, or to periodically qualify. Some may fire no more than 100 rounds a year or less in a year. That would be the equivilant of hitting a class once or twice a year, to show you still know the basic techniques.

I agree! Not only are far too many Law enforcement officers not well trained (although many departments do a good job) shooters, they have very little training in gunfighting.

Let's not confuse the two. It's one thing to qual’ on a square range on stationary cardboard cutouts and quite a bit different to shoot that same qual' while in the adrenal state with dynamic movement and the targets shooting back.

No joke. We even invented something called a "SAW Grenade". (Last resort only, of course). You stick a Squad Automatic Weapon (light machinegun) in a room full of baddies and wiggle it around in [nearly] all directions.

Luckily, I've never seen it used in real life.

I really should quote myself and note that Marines are highly trained marksmen, and we do put high regard in marskmanship on the battlefield- for reasons to include ammo conservation.

It's just that... well.. Murphy's first rule of combat states that, "If it's stupid, but it works- it isn't stupid." :/

              I like this.

It is amazing what ingenuity is born of desperation.
