Bulletman course - Pure street survival focused. Defender wears no safety eqipment when hitting the bulletman (eg gloves). Allowed to attack all vital points.

Neither are real combat yet the Bulletman reflects real combat better. Being good at kickboxing/MMA/Thai Boxing/ Boxing means nothing in the world of real violence.
I disagree. Being good in different ranges is very important to a combative situation, and for standup, muay is best, for grappling bjj and shooto/csw are best, for dirty dirty shit, weapons, and such, FMA (including kino mutai) are best equalizing and final force.

Learning how to hit a padded man is something anyone can do...scenario training is good...but it can be encorporated by anyone. I mean, shit...really man, what it really boils down to are intent, and suprise. If a somebody has the drop on you, you're pretty much done, unless they **** it up.

Nobody can be that cautious, even if your a delusional paranoid, somebody could still blindside you.

so tell us about all your experience...

The whole idea that you you can learn enough of ANYTHING to defeat a trained athlete at his own game in two weekends is freakin STUPID.

Will it help her against an idiot on the street? sure, unless she has an idiot teacher who tells her she will be able to beat up martial artist and fighters.

I disagree. You first need the skills gained from training in a DECENT Martial Art ... and NOT a sport.

How do you know that? You don't know me or what my martial arts experience is. I'd very much like someone to TRY and "blindside" me. I assure you, it would turn out very messy .... for them.
One...you CANNOT train eye gouging. You can feign and fake it, but you cannot effectively simulate eyegouging, nor can you simulate fishooking, tailhooking, or doing anything that takes a great deal of understanding of physiology with the throat (i.e. tearing the windpipe, dropping the larnyx, or breaking in the hyoid bone) with your hands in any SAFE training enviornment. You cannot rip the throat out of, eye gouge, or bite a bullet man.

Two...almost all the pinching, biting, tearing, and gouging I said above comes from the FMA, kino mutai. The FMA are pretty goddamned comprehensive and very VERY battle tested. Look into Sayoc, Pekiti/Dekiti Tirsia, and the guys over at shivworks.com if you want to see an example of what I'm talking about...not flashy bullshit, not sport. (unless you count what Floro Villabrille did a sport...he killed people in full contact stick and knife fights at the turn of the century in the Phillipines.)

(Muay Thai and BJJ are sports...but they have more useful combative application than most of the reality systems I've seen to date. We will argue about this, but I'm not going to go into it because I think addressing your last statement is more important.)

No living soul is impervious to being taken by suprise. I have been stabbed, and I recently (about four months ago) saw one of my friends almost gutted in front of me.

The person, whom he did not know, and who said nothing to him, walked up to him, almost brushing past him, and stuck him hard and quick in the stomach, and walked away. There was NO confrontation, there was no telegraphing or foreshadowing of any kind. Just a quick thrust.
Before my friend knew he'd been stabbed, the kid had already, calmly, walked away and into a car waiting for him on the street.
The wound was 4 inches deep, and if it wasn't for a small layer of fat, it would have hit his kidneys (all the way through to them)...and it missed all of the vitals on the right side of his body by about an inch on each side.

You can't always, and you won't always expect it.
You never really can, all you can hope for is that they **** up.
I guarantee you, almost 100 percent, when you get cut, you panic...if not just go into fucking shock.
I have about a 3 1/2 to 4 inch gash across my right brow, just under the hairline, of when I got sliced with an ice pick (actually, a cooking thermometer)...What was I thinking when I got blindsided and cut...in the face...

Everything seemed stopped for about 10 seconds, and when the blood rushed down my face, into my right eye, and onto the floor, I was almost CERTAIN I'd been blinded and/or lost my EYE. I remember screaming bloody fucking murder, and literally slipping and sliding on my own blood which was pooling like crazy below me.

even with a shallow (about 1/4 of an inch) facial cut, with just capillaries, you bleed like a bitch, bright red...almost like in the fucking movies, I couldn't believe blood was that red, it was surreal, and very very fucked up.

If someone cuts you, you will stall...if they have intent, they will take the opportunity to finish your ass. Luckily my wound was more of a sibling rivalry issue, but if he'd wanted to...he could have very easily followed up his initial slash.

I've done a shi load of arts, and I've taken the initial Bulletman course.

Yep, it can make you a little better than you were but, like all training, it is only a small piece of the puzzle.

Andy Murray, do you really believe that it's impossible for you to be sucessfully ambushed? That's what you're suggesting in this thread and frankly that's so absurd it makes it hard to take anything else you've said seriously.

I think it depends on the bullet man classes, some of them are awesome (Fightback!!!!) but some teach stupid things, like they'll tell you to go to the ground right away.

I think the point though is not whether a 5'5 chick could beat up a kickboxer, but could she use the skills she's learned to effectively get home safely when confronted on the street. Since a lot of these courses focus on mechanical (not pain) compliance I definitely thing they are useful. Of course there aren't guarantees, but knowing what your targets and options are definitely increases your chances. And chances are good that the guy fucking with single unarmed women on the street isn't expecting a fight at all, etc...

The purpose of the Bulletman is also to teach women that "this is the bad guy" so you can hit him as hard as you want, to help women get over that initial desire to be "nice" and not hurt someone who is about to rape and kill them.

So you want us to think you're some kind of highly trained snake eating badass that sleeps with your eyes open when the reality is you're a SPECULATING artist that has never been tested...
