Best Legal Weapon to carry

I would have to go with the Trapo, which is a weapon from Atienza Kali. It is simply a hard object within a soft object: padlock inside of a bandanna, rock in a sock, soda can in a t-shirt, fishing weight tied to a piece of rope, etc. It's a swinging, improvised "sap" device. I like it because it's parts are legal to carry, and being a flexible weapon, it can literally wrap around your opponent's defenses and still land a good shot to the head. It's not a new idea, to be sure...but it's a great equalizer that sure does work.

Are you talking about the same type of weapon they used in 'Full Metal Jacket' when they beat that fat guy up?

I don't know about best, keeping in mind every one has their own fighting technique, but as far as legal weapons go I would say the Kubaton (legal in some countries) looks like a ordinary keyfob is really just a piece of metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubotan)

However your keys are going to do as much damage if not more. Another similar weapon would be a pen, not one of these poxy bics, get yourself a nice chunky pen, used similary to the kubaton; hardening your fist when u grip it, putting some bone breaking capability on your hammer fists, and the nib is great for maniplulation and drawing penis' on unconcious foe.

I doubt that is a legal weapon to carry in the majority of jurisdictions. Daggers and dirks are poor defensive weapons. The inability to deliver an effective slash leaves you with stabbing attacks which often go unnoticed in the heat of battle. It is cool looking an probably makes a great addition to a ninja kit but it's a poor defensive weapon.

yeah its cooler looking than it is practical. however, i wouldnt consider it a poor defensive weapon.

its legal here in CA. we just cant carry autos or butterfly knives. double edge is fine if its not concealed.

The Sykes/Fairbairn dagger was replaced because it broke and due to the fact it was nearly useless as a slashing weapon. The replacement A/F dagger had a Moran edge which made it a terrifying slashing tool, this edge was specifically added because daggers proved to lack the ability to inflict slashes which were deemed necessary when both parties knew it was fight. Keep in mind this tool was made for Commandos who had higher than average abilities to fight, if they couldn't defend themselves properly with a dagger it's rather doubtful the average martial artist can.

you saying you wouldnt be able to use that thing to defend yourself against some crackhead trying to put you in a headlock in the mcdonalds drive through? if all you had was that urban dart, and lets say some some drunk school teacher tried to put you in WWF moves while you were trying to get to your car after you just got eating at Dennys, you dont think that weapon would be capable of stopping someone? especially in the hands of a trained martial artist?? its not the greatest weapon ever designed, but its far from being useless or poor for self defense. at least not inmop.

I'm saying it's unlikely you're going to do enough damage to stop the attacker without killing them, neither of the scenarios you listed should require a trained martial artist to kill the attacker. Being covered in a crackheads blood over a headlock in a drive through and killing a school teacher in a Denny's parking lot both sound like the actions of a freaked out gear geek unable to think under stress. Perhaps you should stop letting crackheads in your car, without a brain weapons are a liability not an asset.

what if the crackhead was high on pcp and you couldnt get out of his headlock and feared your life was in danger?? what if he was biting your face and neck too?? im sure that urban dart would release his hold on your neck real quick.

what if that disgruntled, drunk, school teacher beats you up and is preparing to give you Triple H's pedigree on to the hood of his own car or windshield??? you realize there is a possibility that your face could be crushed and cut up, and your neck could be broken by the WWF move. what then??? before he can lift you, if you deploy that urban shank, im sure it would stop his drunken attempt at doing the WWF move he saw at home on you and permanently injuring you.

id take me chance with the jury over getting pile driven into the hood of a car, or letting some crackhead whos intentions are unknown to me overpower me so he can do whatever it is he is trying on me. plus, prison wont be bad as long as its not a real hardcore one. as long as i dont have to hang out with tossed salad man, it wont be too bad. in fact, i could use a vacation. i wouldnt mind just getting to spend a few months, or even a year or two just hanging out and playing cards, lifting weights, watching TV, smoking weed, eating good food, .......i mean its really no different than what i do normally except that i wont have to pay any rent, worry about what to wear, wont have to pay for gas or drive around in traffic, or go to work in construction every morning.
