  • bad car alarms

The other night I was out running some errands and I heard someone honking their horn as if to get attention. I ran towards the car to see what was going on and if I could help and noticed a couple gentlemen (big guys) running towards it from the other side of the parking lot as well. I mean it really sounded like someone in distress.

Turns out it was just some new-fangled car alarm. They rigged it so instead of cycling the horn on and off regularly, they mix up the length, so it sounds just like someone honking their horn repeatedly to get attention because they're in danger.

I really have a problem with these car alarms. Now these two men and I will be desensitized to that sound. Next time someone needs help and honks their horn, because of these unethical car alarms it'll just be more white noise...

    Heavens no!

What if it had been a normal car alarm, would you still have come running? You probably would have if you came running for this one...

So what if a kid throws a tennis ball and sets off a car alarm? Are you going to come running and then when you realize its a false alarm just gonna ignore that particular "Beep, Beep,Beep" the next time.

I'm not interested in possibly putting myself at risk over someone else's property. Different story if someone's life is in danger.

Perhaps a "polite note" left "on" (or IN) the car could point out the errrr drawbacks to said alarm system
