I was pulled over once when i was maybe 16 or 17 and the entire car was searched, they found a baseball bat in the back which of course i said was for baseball, it was not actually for baseball, and the cop told me it would only be believable if i had also had a glove or a ball with it, and stored it in the trunk. He found a few other weapons in the car but let me off without any problems, he just took everything.

I have a 20 inch extendable asp baton, and i was just playin around with it, i feel like if i was confronted with an attacker wielding a knife id rather deploy the baton than a knife myself. If youve never handled one of these things you might not understand, but i feel like id have the upper hand with this, its heavy and the way its balanced it strikes very hard, bones can be broken easily. I just feel more slightly confident personally with a weapon that could shatter the bones very easily in the hand/arm of someone holding a knife. On the other hand, if the attacker was unarmed id feel more confident with a super lethal knife if i felt it was necesarry.
Not saying a baton is more effective than a knife or vice versa, but in my hands i feel it could be better in that situation, maybe has alot to do with the reach advantage az im sure id feel the same with a good baseball bat vs. knife.
