You also need to look at your thread topic, why you dont waste time groundfighting. First that implies you dont need to waste time learning ground fighting.

Second you fail to post the rest of your quote, you say "I know fights can go to the ground and you have to train and prepare for that,..."

But you leave off the part where you say, "but that doesnt mean you should dilly-dally"

Buddy spent like a whole 3/8ths of a second if you ask brewer, but maybe 3-5 seconds on the ground punching that kid in the face, is that really dilly-dallying?

If you were fighting someone and you had the mount you would jsut immediately jump up, especially if you thought it was a one on one fight. Please.

      Wow. You are arrogant.

Most others who practice MA that is not sport oriented got the point. Sorry I didn't word everything just to your liking.

Also, the kid who took mount and started pumeling the other kid was soley focused on just that. Not being aware of his suroundings, and he paid for it. Doesn't matter how long he was pounding the kid. He took a sport fighting mentality out on the street and it didn't work for him.

It appears that you've mistaken my original post to mean don't train to fight on the ground. When I clearly stated in my first post that you still have to train and prepare for if a fight goes to the ground. You had a misinterpretation of the meaning of this thread topic. That's fine. I make mistakes too.

You didnt clearly state that, you say I'm going on technicalities, well thats what words are, I'm going on what you wrote.

What you write is what you mean, not snippets of what you write.

And sorry to burst your bubble, but those kids were like 12 years old, he wasnt taking a sport fighting mentality to it, he was taking the normal human instinct mentality of get on top of him and punch him in the face.

I got the point of your post, and refuted what you were saying, and just because I dont agree with you, you call me arrogant, tell me I'm mistaken, and dismiss my views.

Notice how I made a point about the ground, and then MikeBrewer refuted my point. THATS WHAT WE DO HERE JUNIOR. You call me arrogant, your arrogant to assume what you think is correct, and not look at anyone else's view.

          Not proof

I dont think this video is proof that groundfighting is a waste of time at all. These kids are probably not even teenagers yet. They probably dont even weigh 100lbs and will have a hard time really hurting eachother. The looser might go home with a bloody nose, fat lip, and a black eye, but their face isnt going to be all busted up.

If this was a real fight, groundfighting skills could actually have came in handy here. If he was confortable on the ground, he would know where his opponents hands and head were at all times. This could allow him to actually look at his surroundings for a second. In stand-up if you look away for even a second you could easily get KO'd. He could possibly even be able to put his opponent between himself and the kid who sucker-punched him.

All I'm saying is this isnt proof enough to dismiss the time and effort an awefull lot of people put into so many martial arts. Lots of stand-up fighters lose to groundfighters. You have to know how to protect yourself against all attacks, and know how to use the situation you're in to your advantage.
