Hmmmmm... how much training do you think the bouncers have,

cause, the first match between the one bouncer and the guy, I am surprised the bouncer did not knock him out or something, but the second match, the one bouncer looked like he had some boxing skills

      been awhile

I don't know how it is everywhere else but when I bounced in alot of places in Florida there wasn't a large amount of skill among bouncers.
This is how I wound up meeting Boar.

Most had some high school wrestling and lifted an ass load of weights to look big. I think in the 3 years I bounced I met maybe 5 other bouncers who had or were getting any kind of SD training.

In this vid it seems like nobody knew what they were doing. There was no organized attempt at subduing the opponent and when he struck everybody seemed to freak out. The guy hitting the attacker on the back was classic.

I have found that a lot of confrontations like this one can be verbally diffused if you have the temperment and are willing to take the time and not be an ass.
Your job as a bouncer should be to deescalate situations and have the safety of club patrons on your mind at all times. If you're duking it out with some big gorilla cause he was talking shit to you, you have no reason protecting anyone. I'm not saying thats what happened here but this guy could have been takin down and the situation handled alot more professional.

When I got a job as a bouncer, my official training was:

"Stand here" and "That guy is the owner, do whatever he says".

Well, that seems like a nice place....

...and that guy sure seemed determined to get his ass kicked.

What the hell was that kid in the white T-shirt hitting him with at the beginning?

yeah, those bouncers weren't that great, a real experienced bouncer with some fighting skills would have taken that joke down in one hit, or would have submitted him damn fast

I was excited to see this vid, but was dissapointing

how do they choose bouncers? just based on size? they don't test them for fighting or martial arts skills?

bouncers are mostly picked based on size. it depends. you cant really tell if they train or not either. there are a lot of clubs and bars here in san jose so i know a lot of bouncers, and some are lazy slobs who just have mass and size and not training and then i know multiple mma fighters and boxers who are doormen. you cant really tell.

and that one random guy had a chain i think.

Haha yeah, that is pretty much what we all get for training. Although eventually I did go through an I.D. class with the cops. I think that bouncer is lucky he had all his buddies at the door with him. Hope there are enough guys inside the club to stop anything that might happen inside! Usually bouncers are chosen for their size first and temperment second, which is a shame. A really good bouncer will never get in a fight, I haven't been in a fight in 4 years. Had plenty my first year until I realized it is all about talking people down. I now run security for a decent sized venue in Lincoln Nebraska and most of my guys are small, but they know they can fight very well, and they always talk down angry customers.

Its funny , cause most really big guys don't have much fightin experience.

I mean they go through their lives with nobody, i mean nobody wantin to pick fights with them cause they are bigger than the norm person.
so I am sure a much smaller guy with some boxin in him could take down a bigger guy
but also big guys can a lot of the time trade size for experience, i mean would you really want to wrestle a big 200 to 300 hundred pound built steroid monkey, nah , don't think so. all the guy has to do is use strength to overwhelm you or just crush you with his mass.

yep, I kind of envy bigger guys

You know its not always about being big. I, myself, am considered a big guy; by which I mean that i can overpower most people just because I am biger and stronger. It is not fair to assume that big guys cannot handle themselves, just as it's not fair to assume that a smaller guy cannot handle himself. Big guys have a natural advantage, but can lose to skill just as well as a smaller guy. One thing I can tell you from experience is that big guys have to deal with the "drunk superman" all the time. This guy is usually very drunk and is trying to impress his friends, so he will go to the biggest scariest guy he can find and try to pick a fight with him. This happens to me every couple months or so. It is very hard to convince them to move along without violence. People see big bouncers and imediatly assume that they are "big steroid monkeys", but it is not always true. As corny as it sounds, bouncers tend to travel in clicks. There are bars where it is well known that all the bouncers work out and do steroids together, there are bars where the bouncers to MMA together, there are bars where the bouncers tend to be ex military, you never know. I know it feels good to say that the big guy can't handle himself in a fight, but give him the benefit of the doubt, because if he can fight well, you are at a disadvantage, and if he can't he can still get lucky and nock you out with one shot. Take a step back and realize that he is just trying to make a couple of extra bucks by babysitting drunk people and let the guy do his job

I didn't spell check this so be forgiving please.

Is this a fact? Or is this one of your feelings?

would you really want to fight a six foot tall 250 pound guy?
                            yeah, I don't think so

anyways, what I said was based on what happened at my school, those guys were never picked on for a fight, but when they did fight they had no bloody technique but just used pure strength to clobber the other guy.

even with good fightin skills i would still be bloody scared to take on a guy that big

lol.. I don't always go on my feelings, lots of it is from experience

I hear ya buddy, not many people want to fight 6 foot 250lb guys, which is why they make them bouncers But they are just like anybody else, if they know how to fight, they will fight well. If they don't, you can expect the natural male resonse, big haymakers and a headlock. The bouncers job is to not get into fights anyway, so don't worry about the big guy. Go have another drink.
