I have a match coming up that I'm nervous about. The guy is a little taller then me and I don't think he has too much Martial Arts training. But the thing that worries me is the fact that he is in the Marines. So I'm worried he's going to be a tough guy to K.O. Any advice?"

Think of it. I could have asked my question like that and saved myself from getting any "NO never fight" speaches and the same people who would have said "never" fight would instead be giving me training tips and maybe even stories from their past when they fought a tough guy.

Why didn't I do that and save myself all the trouble? Because it wasn't true. PERIOD
If you're fighting in an MMA match, presumably you'll be fighting under a sanctioned body, under the supervision of a referee, with the protection of rules. This is presumably legal.

In your scenario, you're talking about committing a pre-meditated act of violence on another individual. This is illegal.

Big difference. Your honesty (as far as it goes) won't buy you much sympathy.

You make it sound like you're going to meet him behind the dumpster after school If this guy is really out to get you it's probably going to involve ambushing you with weapons. What you're describing sounds more like high school drama. If someone is genuinely planning on assaulting you than martial arts training is the least of the precautions you should be taking.

What up guys. Truth be told eXcessiveFORCE I am trained. Almost two year kickboxing and Jeet Kune Do. Then sometime later I did Ninjutsu for another two years and now I'm in KRav Maga. I was just wondering if just because he's been in the Marines means he maybe a tough guy to handle if things get ugly.

And Mike Brewer I didn't give that example about MMA fighting to try and get people to leave me advice. I did it to make a point that I am being honest w/ you all. That guy Tom Yum seems to think that just because I'm asking this question that I must be lying. Well, my point was that I could have easily lied and gotten info. BUT I DIDN'T. That's why I have the MMA Match example.

        Thanx everyone who is helping.

Watch out Bro, if things get ugly that Marine may snap out and croak you. Also, like I said above why don't you try and befriend him.

Getting in a cyber rumble with Tom Yum is not a good idea. He has been around a very very long time. TY is very level headed, why don't you try reasoning with him. Take it off the boards and send him a private message. Look at his post numbers. Try working on your diplomacy and tact. You training sounds impressive but that Jarhead's training will Trump yours everytime.

            Agreed with everything said above.

You should attempt to clear the air with said Marine and try to be on good terms. Be respectful and friendly; it will help your cause whatever the scenario.

So, where are you and this marine from. My little bro. is the same age and will be graduating bootcamp soon (hopefully), and I would hate to think you were going after family. Speaking of family that is what the corps is, you try to take one you'll find yourself outnumbered.

LOL No worries. This guy has already graduated bootcamp. He's coming back from over seas. And please, I'm not "going after anyone". I'm saying IF he get's out of control again I'm going to stand-up to him. And IF he throws blows I'm throwing them right back. I'm starting to learn that not all self-defense situations are against some thug in a dark ally.

I'll bet the dude doesn't have eyes in the back of his head no matter how much he constantly checks his flanks. Get him after he's had a few drinks and his guard will be down some more. Hold 2 bottles so that if the first one doesn't KO him straight away you can hit him with the other, and then keep hitting him until he's unable to fight anymore.

He may be a Marine but he's not Superman.

Maybe better at Marketing but not at Kicking arse. Look at how good they Market Krav Magra. Marketing Genuis. Dude, You obvioulsy don't know any Marines. Tell you what, go down to the Marine recuriters office and ask him to show you the application to be a Marine. Check out the Language. Then ask about the reputation of Parris Island.
