The simple fact is that the more familair you are with the thing, the less difficult it becomes to deal with. Realistic knife defense is really about understanding the tool, and understanding the guy using it. It's not impossible. Difficult? Sure, but all fighting is difficult.....


Whatever works, in the moment, is what one should use. ...

Seems like I've tried to imply very similar advise. The key (in my most humble opinion) is IN THAT MOMENT. In the situation of "ambush" there is literally NO TIME unless you can create it. You may have heard it said "Decide NOW, act when you need to. Because when you need to there won't be time to decide."
