If I can't discuss what I've found to be true as well as what others who have trained in JKD for years have found to be true, then this isn't a forum. Its a massage session for certain member's egos.
I obviously know enough that I knew it was supposed to be about formlessness. Since that statement was verified by quoting a real authority on the subject, this debate has been about everything but that point in contention.
As I stated, the real embarrassment comes from those who claim to have practiced a thing for years then get shown for not knowing the basics.
As far as Inosanto getting it wrong, people can judge for themselves. Bruce Lee did not want his FMA in the JKD. Bruce made the statement that he did not see the practicality of it, and even went as far as to suggest to Inosanto to let it go and not hold on to arts simply because of cultural ties.
Dan Inosanto has stated that himself. So, when you practice JKD, you're not practicing Lee's idea of the art, you're practicing Inosanto's rendition. JKD didn't have FMA in it while Lee was alive. It wasn't until after his death that the FMA side of JKD was incorporated despite Lee's protests.
Inosanto will tell you that too.
You're trying to make this about me attempting to seem like an expert when I'm only holding Inosanto and you to your own words.

Well, the thread was about a savate guy who blended other things to make a pretty effective blend. That's something Bruce Lee did with some success, and in that regard, JKD has a lot to do with Urban Combatives. .....
JKD done by a guy with a savate background can look a lot like savate.
... Hence, JKD can look like savate at times. But it doesn't have to.
......
Much of silat has been blended with other styles over the ages be it chinese, japanese and/or western fighting methods.
It is no surprise that these might resemble JKD. they share directness, aggression and efficiency among other things.
I liked the Savate clip, I thoughtthe guy was quick, aggressive and accurate with his moves. Don't know about the head kicks though as he was obviously warmed/stretched up before hand, and not too mention it was a nicely choreographed, but still it was cool.
