It is absolutely true. When you are in contact you have more ability to control where his body is relative to yours and you will be moving the shortest possible distance to get where you want to go. The further apart you are the further you have to move and the more he can move to keep facing you.

Apparently all of "There certainly isn't a guarantee that you will land said strike; there's a never a guarantee that you will win a fight" was too hard for poor jubbie to read...

More theory-boy hiding behind such things because you don't train enough on real basic skills (which are what make those 'extra' things likely in the first place!).

I was talking about the "it's easy to..." part. Nice try. Well, not really.

Except that while you are in contact with him, he'll tend to be in contact with you. To point out the obvious. Yes, superior skill will give an advantage - but so will strength. Otoh, superior skill in footwork gives an advantage when you're not grappling, and strength is irrelevant. Advantage strike-and-run for the little guy; he'll need a much bigger margin of skill to win a grappling battle, I'd suggest. And that's before you get into "grappling with someone who may be willing to punch you in the throat is stupid" argument, which has a lot of merit.

Btw - is this the first post where you've attempted logical argument?

Which is why your complete ignorance about grappling makes it so hard for you to understand

Umm, yes, altering my profile name to "faggis" is a brilliant rhetorical tactic. You're, what, 12? Which explains why you didn't get why my use of "brilliant" was irony, I suppose...

If you are worried about being punched in the throat you would be better off grappling than striking in the first place.

That doesn't answer my question either. Why are you so reluctant to?

                            YEAH, THAT!

I throw judo out here all the time but few really take it seriously. When you really start to grasp it and make it your own it opens a new dimension to the meaning of "art"...

The earth is awesome (gotta LOVE gravity) but "terrain" fairly rules. If it weren't for the abundant diversity of THINGS to smash people into it might get boring.

I think too many judo guys have been isolated to a padded arena for way too long.

I just need to ask one thing? How BIG is he lying on his face?
