Tom, I know what pre-incident indicators look like. I even posted a whole article on it, recently. I can tell when someone's being dysfunctional and when they're not. And I'm not even in a relationship. I was just wondering if people have had experiences of abusive relationships where there was NO indication, is all.

      yes, I have.

If the person has a disorder, it will come out one way or another. Its a matter of time and when it happens, its like WTF did that come from?

As a nice fella (or lady in your case), you ask the person why did you do that? And for this person there's no rational reason. The person is in denial or has selective memory. Its messed up, so if you get involved with someone who has these explosive fits after months or years of being together or seeming normal and they are in some kind of denial, you need to discuss this with them otherwise gtfo.

      A completely different scenario...

I'll also add that someone who is going through clinical type depression will slowly, but surely wear you down even if you are a caring type of person and things are well.

They begin to sink and there's not a damn thing you can do to help them...tears your freakin heart right out and drives the both of you slowly away from each other.

Sometimes this person can be edgy or spikey and reject you both physically and emotionally and the next moment they are okay.
