  • The gay/Lesbian assumption.

I am just wondering if any of you have experienced this before.
I recently started to take classes in exercise physiology. The school has a Lesbian club there. One lady was standing there and giving out flyers. She did not give them to men and only gave it to some women. I am far from being gay, but she did tried to give me one.
So now, just cause you look like you work out, does that ultamately makes you a lebian in peoples eyes?

    perhaps she was just hoping.

If you look like you work out, have a shaved head and don't wear makeup. But it doesn't ultimately make you anything, it's just an assumption.

you kinda gave it away with the "X-man" comment...

I've been looked over by gay men... I try not to provoke them but hey, I'm pretty damn good looking... Symetrical at least.
Years ago before my wife was in college she was told that there were many lesbian women/girls going to Humboldt State U in northern Ca so it was easy to find a boyfriend...

Well gay/lesbian groups arent all gays and lesbians. They have a lot of straight members. One of my straight friends is in one. A bit confusing to me but people are people, no matter color or race or what not.

              Lol,

I was'nt confirming that I'm really a lesbian...but the question was "do people assume you're a lesbian." I was just answering as truthfully as possible.

The answer is yes, I see. I try not to make assumptions based on appearance but words just confuse me... They are X-MEN that you're a fan of, not you are an X-man fan, then?

                Are you?

I'm hetro with homophobic tendencies... (kidding) More like "Married with Children"...

Some of my co-workers think I'm trisexual (I work on a farm) You know, try sex with almost anything.

I don't know how they'd get an idea like THAT.

As someone said, many straight people attend GLBT groups. Supportive friends and family, stuff like that. But even if she did mistake you as gay, so? Stereotypes are just that, stereotypes. And at least half the time, or more, they're wrong. I happen to know a woman that is extremely femme. I mean she's more femme than most straight women I know, but she's a lesbian. I also know many lesbians that don't work out, or even look like they do, whereas I know many straight women that do work out or look like they do. I even know a straight woman that's bald and doesn't wear make up.

What it comes down to are assumptions. Most people assume everyone is straight, and may become insulted if someone thinks they are gay. Some gay people become insulted if someone thinks they're straight. But why assume anyone is anything unless they tell you? I just assume everyone is open minded until proven otherwise, and leave their own labels for themselves to decide.

Cut out the work out part, and it sounds like two of my ex's.
