    Fat burner and muscle building question By Fiendlover - 06-30-2008 11:14 PM

    =========

    I want to start taking a fat burning and muscle building supplement and/or protein powder with it. I was wondering if there are any good ones that really work for women. I was thinking about taking Hydroxycut Hardcore for Women because my brother indroduced me to it for he's taking the male version along with a testostirone supplement (which he tried to give me once without telling me what it was lol). So I want to get advice from women on what works best before and after my workouts and training.

    Any advice is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,

    Check out the ingredients on the male and female version of the same supplement, the only difference should be dosage level as generally woman are more sensitive to fat burners/stimulants than men are. The male version may have "test boosters" etc in them but tbh these are not as powerful as you think and generally do not have the same effect on woman as they do not have testicles to stimulate extra hormone!! Also be very careful with any stimulant based fat burner as it is easy to become sensitised. There are many fat burners on the market but without a doubt one of the most effective is a stack that is used in bodybuilding to get ready for a show called ECA which is actually three compounds taken together in very specific amounts. I will let you look that up on Google but I have been bodybuilding for 19yrs now and have competed, this beats Hydroxycut etc hands down but you need to be careful and you must look up the correct ratios, some of the best info being on a decent bodybuilding forum. I have known people get depressed when coming off fat burners of any stimulant type so please be sensible with how you take them. Obviously the manufacturers want you coming back for more and these things are addictive to some people. You will find after a week that they don't have the same affect as when you first took them if you take them every day, I do two days on two days off for about a month then take a week off. As for protein powders, again be careful not to spend huge money on flashy packaging and well advertised powder. There are a lot of companies selling high quality powders, just make sure the main ingredient is cold filtered whey protein concentrate (or isolate if you don't mind paying extra and are wanting to keep your carb level to a minimum). Fat burners work well prior to training as they increase the body's ability to burn fat and they definately rev you up to train harder. Make sure you take protein about an hour prior to training, this will help maintain a positive nitrogen level in your blood which is muscle sparing. Also, post training make sure you take a protein/carb drink within 20 mins of training but preferably straight after. I mix a recovery drink with extra protein and a tin of low fat creamed rice and blend it all together as my post training drink, I also add Glutamine and Creatine to aid recovery. The main differences between men and woman is Testosterone which basically enables a man to recover better and grow more from training. Don't believe the hype that men and women have to train drastically differently because they don't, just use your head and think about what it is that you want to achieve and structure your training and nutrition to suit. It isn't rocket science and there are no easy routes, the hardest part is being consistent day in day out with your nutrition, training is easy!!!!!

    Sorry if any of the above seems rushed, I have jobs to do around the house (even us blokes can do housework you know!!)

    Hope I have helped.

      Sorry to reply again, just to add that we have a very good female bodybuilder at my gym and she trains and eats the same as I do and she just placed 5th at a professional competition. We regularly dicuss training and dieting. I just thought I would add this to reinforce that men and woman are very similar in there abilities and training requirements. The usual difference in training style lies in what is required from the training, not the persons ability and defintely not their sex!
