  • Burton- Question abt your old tapes

I was flipping through some old mags and saw your tapes (Unique). I have some of the tapes from the Defining JKD series and liked them.

I know your philosophy has changed since then, but I'm still curious as to what's on tape # 6, particularly what the sparring drills are.

    Thanks!

Honestly CJ, I don't remember. Those tapes were shot at least 9 years ago, which seems like a lifetime. I am sure that the sparring drills aren't too bad, but if you are going to buy a tape you would be better off getting something that is more current. Enjoy!

Do your new tapes from Straight Blast show any sparring drills/methods?

Oh, yes. There is a lot of sparring and training progressions on the SBG tapes. I also shot a tape in February, with the help of Morne', Renzo, Filippo, and Augusto, in Spain for Budo International. Lots of sparring and training progressions there too. Enjoy!

              progress

Burton, i have seen your tapes from the beginning, and following your "offerings" column which is great, and i must comment on your growth, you have progressed and taken foreward the knowlege of combat and its philosophies. its great to see someone who, as they say in the blues taken it past where you found it, unlike those who chose to keep repeating over and over the same thing. keep blasting....cheers!

Thanks for the kind words. I like that phrase, "taken it past where you found it". Thanks for that, and enjoy your training!

I kinda liked the pony tailed Burton myself. Lester appears to be more muscular on the SBGi stuff. He must be low carbing.

Is the JKD Unlimited Series 1 still recommended?

Yes, the JKDU series one is very informative with a great deal of good information. The interviews are very helpful for a lot of people as well. The new Science Of The Fight series, along with the Choke Em Out, are more updated with training methods and new techniques. Aloha!
