  • From the clinch...

    Hi Burton,

Rich (Beaupit) has mentioned that you have vastly modified the JKD Unlimited Curriculum as of recently...

With regards to clinchwork, what do you focus on with regards to technical? (i.e. neck control, ties, takedowns, positioning, etc)

Are your new curriculum videos available to general public.

    Hi Chad,
we work on many control positions, all including the striking. We play from there to set up striking, transitions, and takedowns. Lots from the Thai clinch, underhook, overhook, bodylock, etc. Adding the striking and the groin shots makes a difference in position! It is working very well.
I don't know if I will make the new curriculum videos available to the public. I'll have to think about that.
    thanks for the insightful question.

Exactly what is the best thing you can do in a clinch.

Optimal situation- don't be in a fight.
Optimal clinch situation- Strike to K.O. the opponent, or choke out the opponent standing, or throw him for K.O.
Next- take opponent down and choke him out.

Currently the curriculum videos, which detail each phase, are only available to JKD Unlimited members. We may change that with the new curriculum.
