Hey how is everybody. I was wondering if anybody could help me out with my training.

I lift weights (bench press, curls ect.) i run about two miles almost everyday including sprints at the end of my run. However the real trouble that i am having is with my technique. I have taken 5 years of tae kwon doe so i am using that as a base for my training but i dont feel like im really getting anywhere.

I do have a punching bag that i use during my training and i have wrist weights...but most of it is just doing a lot of kicks and punches (im pretty fast). with the exception of getting into street fights at school i have no real way to tell if i am doing a good job.

i have been looking around these forums for the past few days and it looks like there are a lot of people who know what thier talking about. so could anyone give me advice or tell me if i am doing something wrong?

    ???

If you enjoy doing what you're doing, then keep on doing it. But if you want to get back into the loop, I'd recommend that you check out a boxing gym or muay thai gym if you want to keep up with fast and aggressive stand up fighting.

Get a coach for some one on one time or if no coach is available, find an experienced fighter to work with.

Tae Kwon Do is a good start (people on this forum bash it alot though) and has its merits. When I've worked with TKD practicioners, they have generally good mobility, great flexibility and great kicking speed. Don't stop practicing TKD kicks on your own if you decide to take up muay thai.

Muay Thai is the name of Kickboxing practiced in Thailand. It takes a lot of conditioning to keep up and alot of heart to do. Visit a muay thai gym and you will see how its different than TKD. Its not pretty like TKD, but its all about fighting.

Boxing is good too. Its very scientific, to the point and simple. It also require rigorous conditioning.
