  • I never did introduce myself, sorry.

I am kicking myself in the butt now for not continuing my training. I had achieved the rank of 2nd Dan in Shaolin Goju. I loved it.

Now, I have two boys, six and four. I'm moving the family closer to Tucson, which has a lot of dojos. I'm looking forward to getting back into training.

I'm a Law Enforcement Officer, so the training would be very beneficial.

Thanks to the creators of this board.

I'm from the Phoenix area myself, but I live in Colorado now not nearly so damn hot. I may move back to the valley next year so my wife can get her masters at ASU. Anyway everyone I ever knew who lived in Tucson loved it there, though I'm not sure why.

I have heard of Okinawa Goju, Japanese Goju, Chinese Goju, but what is shoalin Goju? Anways welcome.

I also never really introduced myself I just seen the forum and started talking about what I could so anyways im from ontario canada nd have been training four about 4 years off and on. Ive only fought in the ring once in an exbition and that was stupid because it was after about an 8 month vacation from MT and made fool out of myself but now I am training hard again running all the time and going back to class but am finding hard to gain the respect of the new students but I guess it will come because I had it before. thats me anyways hope I havnt stepped on any toes yet.

The best way I could describe Shaolin Goju would be a mixture of the Chinese Combative System with the Okinawan Hard and Soft Fists. I also studied a lot of Shotokan.

Now, however, I can't even complete Jihon, Bassai Dai or Kanku Dai without messing them up.

Grandmaster Charles Dixon brought the art to the states from Japan and founded the Shinjimasu International Martial Arts Association. More information about Shaolin Goju can be found here. The art itself practices all three rings of fighting: striking, trapping, and grappling. I loved practicing it.

I don't live in Tucson right now. I live in Rio Rico and I can't stand it. I plan on moving to Sahuarita, which is near Tucson. From there, I think I've already found the dojo to where I plan to go and take my six-year-old son also.

Again, thank you very much for the welcome. I look forward to getting a lot of information out of this place and hopefully giving a lot of information back.
