  • The 40yr Old Newbie...

    Hello everyone -

Having studied TKD and then JKD for most of my adult life -

I had an experience I would like to share with you...

In August of '98 I was partying with some buddies in SoCal -

Having a great time until we were in the parking garage...

We were approached by three young hispanic men -

And they seemed to zero in on me...

Now I am NOT the ideal victim.

    6 foot at 235 -

    Played football in college -

15 years of MA under my belt...

The smallest of the group kept asking me for the keys to my friends car and my wallet -

I told him to get the "F" lost -

Then he punched me in the chest...

I tackled him and secured him with my belt -

As his friends ran away -

    And my friends called 911.

As the police were taking my statement -

I felt very queasy and when the officer opened my jacket -

My chest was covered in blood.

I had been stabbed and didn't even know it.

After the smoke cleared some months later -

I realized that even though I could more than take of myself in a fight -

I had no experience in avoiding a confrontation -

Or even recognizing when one was getting out of hand -

If anything I was one of those idiots who looked for them...

And caused my switch to reality based MA from the traditional arts.

I studied under - And earned instructor status with Paul Vunak, Jim Wagner, Tim Larkin, and Tony Blauer -

Whom I consider to be the cream of the crop in RB MA...

And since I have found myself in a financial position to be able to do what I want - When I want -

I decided to start my own school teaching the best parts of each system -

It doesn't have near the profits I am used to (yet) -

But it certainly is more rewarding tha pushing paper around all day...

    Thanks for your time...

    Danny

    hi welcome to the forum.

i found your story very interesting. It reminds of a qoute which someone said on this forum that stuck with me.

Welcome to the forum. Interesting story and it must have been nice to train under those people. Just one question how is training with Vunak? I'd love to train with him but he's very far away from where I live. And he's quite expensive.

Law Enforcement Instructorship Program. Paul Vunak has developed one of the most respected programs in the country for teaching law enforcement officers. Currently over 50 police departments in the United States have adopted this program. We are now offering personal training programs to civilians on how to teach this exact program from A to Z. Graduates from this course will learn not only the specific curriculum, but also how to get your foot in the door of your local police department, and the appropriate way to present the program (accompanied by your official instructorship certificate). This is a 12-hour program, completed over two days. The fee is $2,000.00; and can be split among four participants. ($500.00 per person)

Private, One-on-one Personal Training/Instructorship Program. The price for a two-day personal training instructorship program is $2,000.00. If you wish, you can still bring up to four training partners to split the cost. (This could equate to five people each paying only $400.00!) Paul will teach you (and your group) exclusively for the entire two-day program.

I built (and sold) my previous business through proven marketing strategies -

And spent a considerable amount of time with Paul on his marketing goals and implementation -

So I received a very healthy discount.

Paul is a masterful tactition - And I have NEVER seen anyone so focused and effective during a knife fight (training). The straight-blast entry didn't really feel comfortable with me - But the other aspects were right on the money...

The only thing that bothered me was the lack of a written outline or manual.

It can be alot to absorb (15 to 17hrs in 2 days) if you are only taking his training once.

              Thanks for the responses...
