  • "It's like a finger...pointing at a cheese cake."

    Hello,

I'm new to this so bear with me here. I'm fairly young and my only experience in the Martial arts have been yellow belt in TKD and lousy "train by video" systems. I've tried to follow along with Kenpo by Chuck Sullivan and Vic Leroux (because it was free from the LIbrary orange belt through black), and JKD by Paul Vunak out of a Black Belt Magazine.
THough I know a lot ABOUT the Martial arts through reading a lot, I don't have enough fighint experiance to defend myself against a "REAL" attacker.
    I like to think/wish I do sometimes, but I don't.
I'd like to know how to defend myself real good, but I don't want to waste time with eastern religion and kata's that were originally meant for pressure point attacks. (ANy one ever heard of George Dillman?).

"The essence of self-defense is the ability to defend oneself against an attacker using any and all necessary violence of action to end the threat against ones' life. Any weapon is just a tool that we use in defending ourselves. Whether one uses their own body, a knife or a gun to defend themselves, the principle remains the same: that to survive an attack on your life, one must realistically train and be honest with oneself about their self-defense skills."

It's a pretty good board for asking questions. Just ignore answers you don't like and you'll fit right in.
