Well, I know almost no one reads the introductions sections on any of the other forums I belong to but I figured I'd give this one a shot.
Ideally I would rap off a long list of martial arts experience here so that I woudl instantly be respected and have people take me very seriously. Unfortunately I was a busy street brawler (bad kid now grown up
) that has recently started practicing JKD and some other martial arts.
I am studying JKD under Matt Numrich who was taught by Paul Vunak.
I have only been doing it for a couple of months now but I am very excited about it as a whole.
I see the art as taught by my teacher extremely practical and useful in real world situations. Also, I get a terribly strenuous work out which helps out my physical fitness.
I got into the Martial arts only recently but have been fascinated by them for years. I can't say why I didn't do this sooner. I really have no good reason as a part of me has wanted to do so for a long time.
I did not start practicing in order to learn how "beat people up" to be quite frank I did that well enough before I started practicing JKD. I am far more interested in learning new things and better ways to discipline myself. With the train of thought I have now I would be perfectly happy to never have to get into another fistfight as long as I live. I have found now that practicing martial gives me a constructive way to focus whatever pent up rage I have. This I find is far better than getting liquored up and hitting people at the bar!
Anyway, before this gets too long winded I'll sign off here and say I hope to be able to add something constructive to this forum and learn some stuff in the process.
