  • Grrrr kick you in the groin

Yeah that'll aggravate a lot of users for sure.

Anyway I'm really new to the whole martial arts world. I'm a 400 meter runner in Track/Field, and I'm fairly strong. I can leg lift 500+ lbs and bench about 185 lbs at 10 reps max. That being said, my side-to-side movement speed is really slow, since all I've ever been working on was going straight.

Lately I've been boxing with one of my friends. The thing is, he's more experienced, taller, and left handed, so I believe he has a significant advantage over me. Another thing is that I get frightened when a punch comes towards me, which is something I need to confront. For now I'm trying to learn how to fight from boxing, and then I might move onto MMA later on. My kicks are horrible as my flexibility is really bad.

I'm not learning how to fight just to show people how strong I am or anything like that. I see a lot of ghetto people fight for pride and respect, but my philosophy is grounded upon efficiency and playing it smart. Working on my running form, keeping a good diet, and training consistently is the most basic and efficient way of getting better at what I do. I want to do the same for fighting as well, so in case one of these days someone endangers me or someone I care about, I could take action. One of my friends got trashed at a party, and if I was there and had the strength I could've helped him until the police arrived. I don't want that to happen ever again, so I can ward these blind thugs living on useless things like pride and respect.

I suppose it depends on what kind of pride and respect. Thanks for your welcome.
