Hello All, I live in Rhode Island and study Uechi Ryu. Does anyone else study the same and are there any live chat rooms?
And lastly, are there any females that write in to this site. As I said, I m brand new and looking to network with fellow martial artists.

        What - No Women?

Thank you gentlmen for you reply but I am actually shocked that htere are no women! Oh well, I hope to learn a lot from you guys. I have been studying Uechi- Ryu for 3 years and just received my Shodan in April. I will be traveling to Okinawa next April as part of a womens tour. We are returning a scroll to Shuri Castle and training for two weeks with some of the Masters of the system. We will be doing a demo at the Marine base and another demo at Shuri Castle for politicla figures. I have been also invited to test for Nidan while I am there. Although I do realize it would be an honor and privilage, I really want to test on home turf.

I have just started to get into weapons - really enjoying it.

Thanks again - think I'll browse the web site.

        Shelly

            Welcome fellow Rhode Islander.

Lot's of knowledgeable folks here....except for Mr. Spankster there....Unless you want to know a lot about taters.

            Have fun.

                Is 3 years to short?

                Hello William and Szczepankiewicz,

Guess you guys have a lot of inside jokes! Glad to see someone from RI. I do go to class 4x per week and when I was a Brown Belt I would attend Black Belt Class and watch for an hour and a half. Obviously, I just love it. Does anyone actually talk about martial arts???

                      I think I'm missing somehing

I just can't seem to figure out what is soooo funny! Guess I don't know about taters, maybe someday! Anyway, I am happy to hear that eventually you'll discuss martial arts. I hope that I'm not the brunt of Szczepankiewicz laughs (whom I will now refer to as Mr. Cut & Paste) because that's what I have to do to insert his name.

So someday Mr Cut & Paste, you'll need to fill me in about tater, but for now I gotta run and iron my gi and scoot to class.

                      Bye Guys!
                      Your friend in the arts,

                      Shelly

Perhaps Mr. Nipplesworth can explain his subtle humor.

                        Iron your gi?

                        Oh bother.....

                          Yes IRON my gi

I know - not too many of the guys in my class iron their guys either. A couple hang them in the locker room and don't even wash them!!!!

And who.....may I ask is Mr Nipplesworth? I probably don't want to know...right?

Ok - I am really going to class now- talk to you later Mr Cut & Paste!!

                          Till Later,

                          Shelly

                              Thats me!

Sorry Shelley. We do have a few "in jokes", and don't mean any harm.

We are also a little pompous. Most styles of Karate are not very well thought of by many of the members here. I graded to 1st Kyu in Shukokai, and think it is 99% nonsense for a real fight.

But we all have our own opinions, and maybe Uechi Ryu is ok. Stick around and Spanky will tell you why he calls me Mr Nipplesworth.

                              Fond regards!
