i have started running three times a week, the route is about 5 miles,
and i also do 60 press ups, 50 sit ups, 40 leg raises, 20 dips, and 40 hindu squats aday, is that enough or should i vary the training?

As I understand it they have a basic fitness test that consists of:
press ups - as many as possible in a minute
sit ups - as many as poss in two minutes
pull ups - they want you to do 20, but the "form" isnt strict"
and a 1 1/2 mile run.
You've got to get to the stage where you can do top figures at these. The ruinning is good, but I would suggest you up the distances, at least once per week. If you get through to basic training you'll be running with a pack on for miles and miles......
They also have an assault course at the training centre, and much of it relies on grip strength. If you can include rope climbing, so much the better.
They have a wb site which outlines alot of the requirements. Put "Royal Marines" in your search engine, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

If u particularly wanted to do one ju jitsu i think would prolly be the most useful i dunno why... i have never done it but i hear that armed forces places tend to use it for training purposes so it might help u out with stuff later on. Or maybe try ninpo i remember when i was training a while ago a guy there was joining the air force and was doing ninja for that.
