  • Blood when I take a crap...

Occasionally when after I finish taking a crap, I see some blood on the feces and on the tissues which I use to wipe. Anyone know what the cause may be?

Occult blood (can't really be seen) in your stool is an indicator of colon cancer.

Visible blood is usually a sign of hemorrhoids. Sometimes you won't even feel any pain or burning if the hemorrhoids are internal.

If you have to strain to have a bowel movement you're probably irritating your bowels and possibly developing hemorrhoids, (which is unusual for someone youir age). If this is so, you're probably not eating right. Stick to a healthier diet (less fat, more fiber, lots of water) and definitely see a doctor.

Had to go through that earlier this year (I'm at that age, you know...)And it wasn't at all that bad. The worst part of it is the day before; fasting all day and taking purgatives to "clean you out". By the end of the day I was crapping clear water, hungry and in a really foul mood.

The procedure itself is basically they stick an i.v. in your arm with a general anesthesia that puts you to sleep, they lay you down on your side and you go nighty-night. You wake up a little later and feel like nothing's happened. No pain, no soreness, nothing. They show you some pictures of your insides, you go home and you get to eat like a hog.

I relate all this for the benefit of any of you who may be afraid or reluctant at the prospect of getting this done and risk letting any problem go unchecked until it's too late. There's nothing to it, just do it!

My everyday breakfast and dinner diet consists of rice and 2 dishes(meat, and veggies. Sometimes meat replaced with fish) and lunch I have cambells soup for school days. And on weekeneds rice and 2 dishes for all my meals.
So maybe it's not the diet?

Oso, just because you had a painful experience doesn't mean you have to trick other people into experiencing the same thing

I don't know about the age part. I'm only 25 and I've had 'em reoccuring for a coupla years now. Started when I was student teaching about 3 years ago. It was from a combination of sitting on those hard ceramic chairs they use in schools and reading a few good novels while on the pot. Doc told me that if you're spending more than 5 mins in the B-room you're risking yourself. Try some tux pads. You can kinda wedge 'em up there and leave it there for 15 mins or so. That usually helps.

Furthemore, check the toilet. I know it sounds gross, but you can tell a lot about your health by looking in after yourself. Is the water red from blood (which does happen)? Also, look to see if your terds are floating, that tells you that you're eating enough fiber. You can also look for other things floating in there, which could be parasites.

I didn't think I would ever write any of that to anyone.

BJJ - blood in stool can be serious and indicative of several disorders or nothing more that irrataion or tearing in you had large stools. If this is constant with every bowel movement and lasts more than 2-3 days you may want to see a doctor. If you are feeling unusually weak or fatiqued go to the ER (however I assume this is not the case since you are posting on the forum)

i think ur anus is just irritated from taking hard craps. if the blood is actually in the stool itself, then u need to see a dr immediatly, but i think u just have an irritated anus. u need to eat more fruits and vegetables, and lots of fluids, this wil soften up ur stools and let them pass easier. fruits are essential.

If your stools are of the right consistency you can also turn this whole thing into an arts & crafts hobby!
